What a Community Can Make Possible in October

October is a busy month for the Splendora ISD Education Foundation. Educator grant applications are being reviewed, and Men (& Women) Who Cook is just a few weeks away.

At first, those may seem like two separate things on the calendar. They are connected by one question: What could be possible for Splendora students if the community comes together to support an educator’s idea?

Last week, teachers and staff submitted proposals for projects they hope to bring to their students. Each application began with someone paying attention in a classroom or on a campus, seeing an opportunity, and taking the time to build a plan around it. The Foundation’s review process is now underway.

Meanwhile, chef teams, sponsors, volunteers, and guests are preparing for Men (& Women) Who Cook on October 24. It will be a night of food, friendly competition, and fun. It is also a fundraiser that helps the Foundation say yes to opportunities for Splendora ISD students and educators.

That connection is easy to miss when an event is still weeks away. A chef team donating its time and food, a business sponsoring the evening, or a friend purchasing a ticket may feel like a small part of a big event. Together, those contributions give the Foundation the resources to support ideas that begin in our schools.

There are several ways to be part of it. Community members can put together a chef team, become a sponsor, attend the event, or help spread the word. Every role matters, and every person who joins in helps make the evening possible. Learn more about it here: https://splendoraisdeducationfoundation.com/event/men-women-who-cook/.

Men (& Women) Who Cook takes place Saturday, October 24 at 6:00 pm, at The Nathaniel Center in Kingwood. As the Foundation reviews this year’s educator grant applications, it’s a timely reminder of why community support matters: teachers have ideas for their students, and this community can help bring those ideas to life.
