Investing in Futures: How Scholarships Are Changing Lives in Splendora ISD

Cara scholarship winners 2026

Every spring, we have the privilege of celebrating some of the most inspiring students and staff members in Splendora ISD. While scholarship recipients walk across the stage to receive their awards, the true impact of these scholarships extends far beyond a single evening. They represent dreams realized, obstacles overcome, and futures made possible through the generosity of our community.

The Splendora ISD Education Foundation is proud to offer a variety of scholarships designed to support students and staff as they pursue higher education, career training, and opportunities that will shape their futures. Many of these scholarships are made possible through the generosity of private donors and scholarship endowments established by individuals and families who are passionate about investing in the next generation.

This year, we awarded scholarships to outstanding recipients whose hard work, dedication, and perseverance have positioned them for success.

Among this year’s recipients was Elsa Alvarez, who received the Paraprofessional Scholarship to continue her educational journey. Supporting employees who are pursuing careers in education is one way we help strengthen the future of our schools from within.

Several graduating seniors were recognized through the Mark Mitchell Scholarship, including Kai Isenberger, Makenley Stubblefield, Wade Wells, and Erin Harris. This scholarship honors the legacy of a former student who had exhibited incredible passion for his work.

The Ready Set Teach Scholarship was awarded to Hailey Haney. Investing in future teachers is especially meaningful, as these students may one day return to classrooms and communities much like the ones that shaped them.

The Ms. Judy Backhus Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Madison Bishop, honoring the legacy of an educator whose passion for students and learning continues to inspire others.

In addition, students Kimberly Day, Hailey Haney, and Kasey Calderon received the Fine Arts Scholarship created in memory of Cara Muirhead, which recognizes the important role that creativity, performance, and artistic expression play in a well-rounded education. The Ben & Sandy Findeisen Scholarship was awarded to Brayden Hansen, continuing the Findeisen family’s commitment to helping students pursue their educational goals.

These scholarships are more than financial assistance. They are investments in people. They provide encouragement to students who have worked hard, overcome challenges, and demonstrated a commitment to their future. They also serve as a reminder that an entire community believes in their potential.

What makes these scholarships especially meaningful is the partnership behind them. Through donor-funded endowments, memorial scholarships, family-sponsored awards, and community contributions, local supporters are creating opportunities that will impact students long after graduation. Their generosity helps ensure that deserving students and staff members can take the next step toward achieving their goals.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community supporters, the Splendora ISD Education Foundation continues to expand opportunities for students and staff. Every scholarship awarded represents a partnership between those who give and those who dream.

As our district continues to grow, so does the need for programs that help remove financial barriers and create pathways to success. We are grateful for every donor who has established a scholarship, contributed to an endowment, or made a gift to support educational opportunities for others.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients. We cannot wait to see the impact you will make in the years ahead.
