From a Teacher’s Big Idea to a Funded Classroom Project

Every educator grant begins with an idea.

Sometimes it comes from a challenge a teacher sees in the classroom. Sometimes it comes from a student who needs a different way to learn. Other times, it is something an educator has dreamed about providing but simply does not have the funding to make possible.

That is where the Splendora ISD Education Foundation comes in.

Our Educator Grant Program gives Splendora ISD educators the opportunity to request funding for innovative projects, programs, and resources that fall outside the district’s regular budget. Individual educators may apply for up to $3,000, while teams may request up to $6,000.

But what happens after you submit an application?

A Thoughtful Review Process

Each grant application is carefully reviewed by at least two readers. If their scores vary significantly, a third reader is brought in to provide an additional evaluation.

Reviewers consider several important questions:

• Is the project innovative?
• Does it address a specific student need?
• How many students will benefit?
• Are the goals clear and measurable?
• Can the project continue making an impact beyond one school year?
• Does the budget directly support the proposed idea?

Applications also move through the appropriate district departments to ensure the requested resources are compatible with district systems, curriculum, safety requirements, and purchasing procedures.

This process helps us be responsible with every dollar entrusted to the Foundation while identifying projects with the greatest potential to make a meaningful difference for students.

More Than Supplies

An educator grant is about much more than purchasing materials.

It can give students the opportunity to build, experiment, create, read, communicate, problem-solve, or experience a subject in an entirely new way. It can help a teacher reach students who may not thrive through traditional instruction. It can also turn an educator’s creative vision into a learning opportunity that benefits students for years to come.

Last year alone, the Foundation awarded more than $50,000 for 14 innovative projects across Splendora ISD. Those grants placed new resources directly into the hands of educators and students throughout our district.

Every project began with someone asking, “What if we could?”

The Foundation can fund these ideas because businesses, community members, alumni, district employees, and other supporters choose to invest in Splendora ISD students and educators.

Every sponsorship, payroll contribution, event ticket, auction purchase, and donation helps us say “yes” to more ideas.

Applications for the 2026–2027 Educator Grant Program are due by 5:00 p.m. on September 28.

If you have an idea that could bring innovation, engagement, or new opportunities into your classroom or campus, we encourage you to apply. Do not assume your idea is too small, too different, or too ambitious. Some of the most meaningful projects begin with one educator recognizing that students could benefit from something more.
