Another Summer of Growing Readers

This summer, the Splendora ISD Education Foundation was proud to partner with Splendora ISD to host another successful season of Summer Reading Nights, giving families the opportunity to learn, explore, and build a love of reading together.
Over the course of our summer adventure, 273 students joined us as we “traveled” across America through books, hands-on activities, crafts, and family experiences. Every child who attended left with a book to add to their home library, and by the end of the program, we had distributed an incredible 664 books to our students.
Each themed evening offered families a unique destination to explore while reinforcing the importance of literacy during the summer months. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, educators, and community partners, every event was filled with smiles, creativity, and opportunities to learn together.
This program would not have been possible without the generous support of the organizations that believed in our vision and invested in literacy for Splendora students. We extend our sincere gratitude to Horace Mann Insurance, East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID), Republic Services, and GPD for providing grant funding that helped make Summer Reading Nights possible. Your investment created opportunities for hundreds of students to discover new books, participate in engaging educational activities, and build a lifelong love of reading.
A special thank you goes to the Pack Horse Librarian, through Village Books The Woodlands and Reading Is Revolutionary, who joined us for several of our Summer Reading Nights to help connect families with even more reading resources. We are also grateful to NatureBred Farms for bringing their wonderful petting zoo to our Peach Creek Elementary event. It was a favorite for many families and made the evening even more memorable.

We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to every volunteer who helped make these events possible. From setting up and serving meals to leading activities, greeting families, and cleaning up afterward, your time and dedication made a tremendous difference. A special shout-out goes to our incredible Gifted & Talented (GT) students, whose enthusiasm, leadership, and willingness to serve our younger Wildcats helped make each evening even more special.
Programs like Summer Reading Nights are about more than books—they’re about creating positive experiences around reading, strengthening family engagement, and helping prevent the “summer slide” so students return to school ready to learn.
We are already looking forward to next summer and to welcoming even more Wildcat families as we continue building a stronger community—one book at a time.
